Raised in a cotton mill village in
Charlotte, NC, Darel's love for BBQ
    started in his early childhood
days.  Summertime BBQ's put on by
    the mill was something everyone
    looked forward to.  Darel could
always be found close to the QN of
the hogs.  His folks even raised
their own.  As a teenager, Darel's
love for low and slow grew even
deeper.  One of his favorite places
was the Hickory House where he
learned the true meaning of wood
    smoked, country style pig cooking.
Leaving the Carolina's for a career
in the Navy, his love of QN grew.
He cooked for his friends and
neighbors from Puerto Rico to Guam.
    After settling in Washington state,
he and his wife, Dona, decided to
take their love for BBQ one step
    further...BBQ COMPETITION...YEE HA!
In 2005, with a custom made pit by
    Olalla Smokers, they became members
of the Pacific Northwest BBQ Assc,

    bringing home trophies and ribbons.
They will be on the competition road
